Los Angeles-based filmmaker Aditya Sood, who is co-producing the British mystery drama Murder On The Orient Express, an eponymous screen adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel, is set to host an intimate bash for the cast and crew of the film, along with other stars, including Priyanka Chopra, at his residence. Also on the guest list are Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Leslie Odom Jr, Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley and co-producer Ridley Scott.

“The dress code is Indian and the menu will feature biryani, tandoori chicken and kebabs. An Indian playlist is also being put together for the party, which will take place over the weekend,” a source close to the development told Mirror. Sood, whose repertoire boasts of films like The Martian, Deadpool 1 and 2, Designated Survivor and Artemis, has coproduced the film alongside British actor-filmmaker Kenneth Branagh (who is also directing the film), Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg, Mark Gordon, Michael Schaefer and Judy Hofflund.

Ahead of the film’s release, the makers have announced a sequel, titled Death On The Nile, another Agatha Christie adaptation. “The bash doubles up as a celebration of the film’s upcoming Indian release, as well as plans for the sequel,” the source adds. The film released internationally on November 10 and premiered in India at the 48th International Film Festival if India in Goa on Tuesday. For the sequel, Branagh is expected to return as the director and also reprise his role as Christie’s famed Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot. According to the source, all concerned parties are yet to sign on the dotted line. The sequel follows Poirot’s Egyptian vacation, where he discovers a murder on the banks of the Nile and a love triangle gone bad.
