Alia Bhatt who has been busy with Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy adventure, Brahmastra, in Bulgaria since February has met with an accident. The actress who turned 25 with a party on the sets on Thursday, was filming an action sequence two days later, when she injured her shoulder.

The injured shoulder is currently in an arm sling and Alia has been advised to take it easy for the next couple of weeks.

The unit had flown down to the location weeks in advance to prep for the heavy-duty action sequences. To stay fit, Alia has taken diet advice from nutritionist Angie Kassabie, who’s worked with stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Britney Spears, Robert De Niro, Eva Longoria to John Travolta, Lady Gaga and Gerard Butler. The actress who had been perfecting her kicks and chops months before they went on the floors, was giving an applause-worthy performance till she hit this roadblock. The gutsy girl has no plans of flying back home and wants to remain in the thick of action. However, concerned for their leading lady, the team will avoid shooting any scenes that could aggravate the injury.

The film’s spokesperson confirmed the news to Mirror, saying, “Yes, on Saturday, Alia injured her shoulder while filming an action sequence. The schedule has been tough and challenging on several levels and this accident has set us back by two days. However, our highest priority is Alia’s recovery. She has been advised minimal movement of the arm which means she cannot resume filming her action sequences in the near future to prevent any further trauma to her shoulder.”

The Karan Johar production, the first in a trilogy, also features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead opposite Alia. He reportedly plays a superhero with special powers. There’s also Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy.

Alia Bhatt, who celebrated her 25th birthday last week, has suffered an accident on the sets of Brahmastra, in Bulgaria. She injured herself while shooting for an action scene in the superhero flick. Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the main lead and Alia, his on-screen romantic interest, have high-octane stunt sequences in the Ayan Mukerji directorial.

Says a source, “The team was shooting for a scene when Alia fell and hurt herself. She has injured her right shoulder and arm. There’s a clot on her arm, so she has been advised bed rest.” As a result, the actress will be out of action for a few weeks. “She is in a lot of pain. Her right arm is bandaged and held up in a sling, so she can’t exert it or her shoulder for the next 15 days,” adds our source.

The Brahmastra team was supposed to wrap up the shoot and return to India by the end of this month. But now, the team is looking for options. “In the current scenario, Alia can’t film any stunt sequences. She can only shoot for close-up scenes and the team is checking if they would need any right now.” We got in touch with the Brahmastra team who confirmed the news about the accident. However, there was no clarity on whether the star would head back home right away.
